Hello there! It has been quite a minute, I know! But just because I haven’t posted much doesn’t mean I don’t have SO much to say! I hope the summer has been treating you well! Now let’s get into this brunch!
Living in D.C. basically means BRUNCH IS LIFE. I usually opt for Saturday brunch just in case brunch turns into a full day lituation and I still have all day Sunday to recover (yes, I am old and it takes me that long and sometimes longer to recover from a day of drinking). I had never been to brunch at Firefly, but had stopped in for their happy hour years ago. I love this quiet, cute place! It’s a little off the beaten path in Dupont and has a great, chill vibe.
I also love this tree inside! I’m still not 100% sure if the tree is real, but it’s still awesome either way. Every time I go there, I try to to feel the tree to determine if it’s real or not (as if I would know) and I can never tell for sure. My original theory was that they built the entire restaurant around it, but the odds of that are slim and probably not practical at all. Anywho, on to brunch!!
I picked Firefly because it has an extensive brunch food menu with some of the basics like pancakes and waffles, as well as some nontraditional options (for D.C. at least) like breakfast tacos! You can check out the full menu on Firefly’s website here.
Although Firefly doesn’t offer bottomless mimosas, they do offer carafes for just $15 and single mimosas for $3, which to me can be a much better deal if you aren’t really trying to go after it, but still want to catch some brunch bzzzz.
I, with my Texas self, ordered the breakfast tacos and they were pretty good! I would have preferred a corn tortilla and maybe a little less egg, but overall they were pretty tasty and very filling!
The pancakes were delicious as well!
I would definitely return to brunch at Firefly and highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for something a little different and not so trendy for brunch. They are located at 1310 New Hampshire Ave NW, Washington, DC 20036, a few blocks from the Dupont Circle metro station. If you stop by, let me know how it was for you!!
Until next time!
xoxo Ash
